A quick note to say thank you for visiting this site. Please take a look at Charles' posts regarding the exciting Commonwealth Conversation and the petition to the Prime Minister to make Commonwealth Day a Bank holiday!
The modern Commonwealth was establised in 1949, it comprises 54 Nations in a volunatary association supporting each other and working together towards shared goals in democracy and development.
The Head of the Commonwealth is HM Queen Elizabeth II, who is also Head of State of 16 Commonwealth Countries.
What is Commonwealth Day?
Commonwealth Day is the 2nd Monday in March (9 March in 2009 and 8 March in 2010) and celebrates the 54 countries which make up the Commonwealth. So why isn't it a Public Holiday accross the Commonwealth?
